Kathmandu Airport Pickup: Getting From TIA to Your Hotel

After a long flight the last thing you want is to haggle over a taxi fare. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is Nepal's only major international gateway, and it sits just east of central Kathmandu, about 6 km from Thamel.

After you land

You will clear immigration (visa on arrival is available for many nationalities), collect your bags and exit into the arrivals area. With a pre-booked pickup, your driver waits outside holding a sign with your name. There is no negotiating and the price is agreed before you arrive.

How long the ride takes

To Thamel, expect 20 to 40 minutes, longer at rush hour. To Patan or Bhaktapur, allow 30 to 60 minutes. If you are heading straight out of the city, to Nagarkot or Dhulikhel for example, we can drive you there directly.

Groups and luggage

Trekking groups often arrive with large duffels and gear. A Hiace van takes around a dozen people with bags; a Coaster takes more than twenty. Tell us your headcount and luggage and we will send the right vehicle.

Picking up a self-drive car

Most visitors prefer not to drive straight after a long flight. A common plan is a driven airport pickup on arrival, then a self-drive handover at your hotel the next morning once you are rested.

Send us your flight number, arrival time and group size on WhatsApp. Share your flight number so the driver can adjust the pickup time if your flight is delayed.
